Purple Eagles roll past rival Mustangs

Jumping out to a 15-0 lead at the outset, Albion rolled to a 66-46 victory over visiting rival Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League game this evening.

Threes by Amari Jones, Dylan Narburgh and Blake Preston highlighted the big opening period which finished with the Purple Eagles up by 17, 19-2.

Amari Jones, Narburgh and Preston each tacked on another three in the second period as the Purple Eagles maintained a 17 point, 32-15 half-time advantage.

Albion extended the lead to 23, 51-28, at the end of the third period which featured two threes by Amari Jones, one by Preston and a pair of baskets by Nick Harling.

Amari Jones finished with 14, Aquil Gaffney 12, Preston 9, Narburgh 8, Javon Jones, John Eible and Sh’kwe Riley 6 each and Harling 5.

Aiden Pitts led Medina with a game high 17 as Jerrell Nealy added 10, Roosevelt Mitchell 9, Cole Callard 6 and Justin Pitts and Jack Cecchini 2 each.

Albion is now 5-2 and Medina 1-6 in N-O action.

Wilson 46, Roy-Hart 43
Blake Martin scored 21, Matt Stolzenberg 8 and Matt Fox 7 to lead Wilson to a 46-43 win over Roy-Hart.

Jamel Johnson Jr. tallied 14 and Dan Aquilina 11.

Roy-Hart led 9-6 after the opening period but Wilson rallied into leads of 18-12 at the half and 34-24 at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson is now 3-4 and Roy-Hart 4-3 in league competition.

Newfane 59, Barker 52
Frontrunning Newfane trimmed visiting Barker 59-52 to improve to 7-0 in N-O action.

Nate Snow scored 13 of his 16 points, including three threes and four free throws, to lead the way for Newfane in the decisive final period.

Landon Braman added 14 and Evan Myers and Ben Dickinson 10 each on the night for the Panthers.

Aidan Mescall scored 19, Aidan Voss 11 and Luey Castro 10 to pace Barker. Mescall scored 8 in the third period and Voss 9 in the fourth as the Raiders rallied from a 35-23 half-time deficit to pull even with the Panthers in both of those quarters.
