Purple Eagles roll in N-O diamond opener

Building up a 10-0 advantage, Albion went on to defeat visiting Akron 10-5 this afternoon in the Niagara-Orleans League baseball opener for both teams.

Breaking away from a 0-0 deadlock, Albion moved on top by scoring 3 runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Harrison Brown and winning pitcher JaQuess Harrison along with an RBI fielders choice play off the bat of Addison Christ.

The Purple Eagles then broke the contest open by erupting for 7 runs in the fifth frame highlighted by RBI singles by Brown and Harrison and a pair of bases loaded walks.

Harrison, who allowed only 2 hits with 4 strikeouts in 5 innings of work on the mound, finished with 3 hits and Brown 2.

In other N-O action, Roy-Hart defeated Barker 8-5 and Wilson blanked rival Newfane 10-0.

Nick Kubas banged out a pair of two-run home runs to highlight the attack for Roy-Hart as Austin Walker added 3 hits and Al Xapsos and Eric Fitch 2 each.

Cam Meadows, Ben Schwab and Jake Bruning shared the pitching duties for the Rams.

John Bender threw a 1 hit shutout with 14 strikeouts for Wilson.

A three-run double by Mac Musall and a two-run double by Tanner Seeley highlighted the offense for the Lakemen.  Seeley and Bender both had a pair of hits on the day.
