Purple Eagles, Rams post N-O diamond wins

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Javon Jones makes a leaping throw to first base to try and complete a double play as Barker’s Aidan Voss is out at second. The action took place during the Purple Eagles win over the host Raiders this afternoon.

Scoring in five different innings, Albion posted a 13-1 win over host Barker this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

Breaking away from an early 1-1 tie, Albion took the lead for good by scoring twice in the third inning on a pair of errors as a single by Javon Jones started the frame. He had 3 hits on the day.

The Purple Eagles then opened up a 7-1 advantage by scoring twice in the fifth on an error and a fielders choice play off the bat of Dallas Ecker and twice in the sixth on RBI singles by Chris Sacco and Kaiden Froman.

Sacco, Jacob Hughson and Caden Uderitz then all had RBI singles during a 6 run seventh inning which capped off the win. A double by winning pitcher Amari Jones ignited that uprising.

On the mound Amari Jones scattered 3 hits and struck out 13 over six innings.

Aidan Voss had a pair of hits for Barker.

Albion is now 1-2 and Barker 0-3 in N-O action. The two teams will meet again at Albion on Monday at 4:45 p.m.

Roy-Hart 16, Newfane 3
Scoring three quick runs in the first inning, Roy-Hart went on to defeat Newfane 16-3 in another N-O contest.

Brayden Hy had a run producing double and Zack Walker an RBI single in the first frame for the Rams which later capped off the win with a big 8 run sixth inning.

Hy and Thomas Russo both finished with 3 hits and Ethan Kuzma 2. Russo’s hits included a pair of triples.

Dawson Draper earned the win on the mound striking out 9 over five innings.

Roy-Hart is now 1-1 and Newfane 2-1 in the league.
