Purple Eagles post win over Panthers

Albion posted a 6-3 victory over host Newfane this afternoon to stay within a game of first place in the Niagara-Orleans League title race.

Improving to 7-3, Albion scored four quick runs in the second inning ignited by a double by Trey Hart and capped off by a two-run double by Brady Meakin. Hart and Meakin both had 2 hits on the day.

Newfane pulled to within 4-3 but Albion answered with two runs in the fifth on singles by Dominic DiCureia and winning pitcher Evan Pappalardo and an error to put a lock on the win.

Pappalardo went the distance on the mound giving up only 2 hits and striking out 10.

The loss drops Newfane to 6-4.

Akron 6, Barker 1

Steve Borowczyk hurled a 3 hitter with 3 strikeouts and also had an RBI double to lead Akron (5-5) to 6-1 win over Barker (4-6).

The Tigers also got a big two-run triple from Jake Clark, which keyed a five- run first inning, and 2 hits by Connor Riggs.

Roy-Hart 6, Wilson 2

Snapping a 3 game losing streak, Roy-Hart (4-6) defeated Wilson (0-10) 6-2 as Justin Heschke and Aaron Metz combined tohul a 4 hitter with 9 strikeouts.

Al Xapsos, Andy Xapsos and CJ Fitch each had 2 hits to lead the Roy-Hart attack.

The Rams scored 3 quick runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Al Xapsos, Joe Nolan and CJ Fitch. Al Xapsos also had an RBI single in the second inning.
