Purple Eagles nip Lakemen in pitchers duel

In a classic pitchers duel, Albion edged past host Wilson 3-1 this afternoon leaving both teams at 5-4 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.

Bryce Pritchard picked up the win on the mound for Albion hurling a two hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Steve Frerichs likewise threw a two hitter for Wilson with 3 strikeouts.

Albion scored once in the first inning on a fielders choice play off the bat of Vinnie Zons.

The Purple Eagles also scored twice in the third inning on an error and a wild pitch.

In another N-O contest, Akron (6-4) downed Newfane (1-7) 10-2 as Adam Mietz threw a four hitter and also banged out three hits.

Kendall 9, Holley 5
In the completion of a suspended game, Kendall bested rival Holley 9-5 in a Genesee Region League contest.

Trailing 4-2, Kendall moved on top to stay by scoring four times in the fifth inning. A two-run single by Mickey Gardner knotted the score. RBI singles by Hunter Menze and Noah Rath then put the Eagles on top for good at 6-4.

Gardner finished with 3 hits as Rath and Brian Shaw both had 3 as the Eagles improve to 5-5 in G-R competition.

Miles Lammes and Matt Skehan both had 2 hits for Holley
