Purple Eagles, Mustangs battle to tie in OT
Rallying from an early 2-0 deficit, Medina/Lyndonville battled back to earn a 3-3 double overtime tie with visiting Albion this morning in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.
Albion jumped out to the early lead on a pair of goals by Brylie Hapeman.
Medina/Lyndonville did cut the deficit to 2-1 at the half on a goal by Olivia Carter but Albion got that one right back early in the second half on a tally by Elisabeth Baker to regain a 3-1 advantage.
However, the Mustangs came rallying back. First a goal by Brianna McMullen cut the deficit to 3-2 and then Carter tallied on a free kick with 12 minutes remaining to knot the contest.
Neither team could find the net in the two 10 minute overtime periods.
Albion, which won the earlier season meeting 3-2, also in overtime, finishes the N-O campaign at 6-4-2 while Medina/Lyndonville is 3-7-1 with one game remaining at Wilson on Wednesday.
