Purple Eagles, Mustangs face road tests

Albion and Medina/Lyndonville/Barker will both take to the road this weekend for interdivisional football games.

Albion, which has already captured the B3 Division title, will travel to Amherst at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Medina/Lyndonville/Barker will visit Akron at 7 p.m. Friday.

In other local games, Roy-Hart will visit JFK for a C North Division game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Holley will travel to Frewsburg at 7 p.m. Friday for an 8 Man Division contest.

Albion brings a 5-0 record into Saturday’s game while Amherst, which competes in the A2 Division, is at 2-3. However, the Tigers have won their last two outings defeating Kenmore East 41-34 and Sweet Home 26-16.

Amherst holds a 4-0 lead in the all-time series with Albion. The last meeting was in 2009 when the Tigers posted a 25-13 victory.

Medina/Lyndonville/Barker brings a 1-4 record into the game against Akron which is 3-2.

The Mustangs hold a 38-17-5 lead in the all-time series with the Tigers which dates back to 1901. The Mustangs won the last meeting in 2013 by a score of 40-20.

Holley will look to improve on its 2-0 record when the Hawks take on a Frewsburg squad that is 0-3 including a narrow 12-0 loss to rival Maple Grove last weekend.

In the B2 Division this weekend Maritime (3-0) can close out the title with a win at Maryvale (0-3). The division’s second berth in the upcoming sectional playoffs will also be decided when 2-1 Dunkirk visits 2-1 Iroquois.
