Purple Eagles, Mustangs face road football openers

Albion and Medina/Lyndonville will both open the football season on the road over the Labor Day weekend according to the first draft of the Section VI Football Federation schedule which was released today.

Medina/Lyndonville will visit neighboring Barker/Roy-Hart while Albion will travel to Lew-Port on Friday night September 3 to kick off the season.

Albion, Medina/Lyndonville and Barker/Roy-Hart are all in the B East Division along with Alden, Depew and Lackawanna which is moving back up to Class B from Class C.

Albion’s home opener will be on Sept. 9 against Alden. The remainder of the Purple Eagles schedule includes Sept. 16 home vs. Barker/Roy-Hart, Sept. 23 home vs. Depew, Sept. 30 at Lackawanna, Oct. 7 home vs. Akron and Oct. 14 at Medina.

Medina/Lyndonville will visit Lackawanna on Sept. 9 before entertaining Alden on Sept. 16 in the home opener. The Mustangs schedule also includes Sept. 23 home vs. University Prep of Rochester, Sept. 30 at Depew, Oct. 7 at Cleveland Hill and Oct. 14 home vs. Albion.  U. Prep and Cleve Hill will be new opponents for the Mustangs

Barker/Roy-Hart will visit Notre Dame of Batavia on Sept. 11 and Albion on Sept. 16 before hosting Alden on Sept. 23. Barker/R-H also visits Newfane on Oct. 1 hosts Depew on Oct. 8 and visits Lackawanna on Oct. 14.

A final draft of the schedule is expected to be released next week.
