Purple Eagles, Mustangs booters bow

Five proved to be an unlucky number this afternoon for both Albion and Medina in Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer as the Purple Eagles lost 5-1 to visiting Akron and the Mustangs were blanked 5-0 by visiting Roy-Hart.

In other N-O action, front-running Wilson rallied for a 2-2 tie with rival Newfane.

Those results leave Wilson at 6-0-1 followed closely by Akron at 6-1 with Albion at 5-2 and Newfane at 4-2-1.

Akron grabbed a 2-1 half-time lead on goals by Erica Papke and Caitlin Regan. Kayle Doyle netted Albion’s lone goal during that stretch.

Akron then broke the game wide open with a quick two goal scoring burst midway through the second half. Reagan netted both of those goals which came only a minute a part, the first on a penalty kick.

Emma Lindke and Amber Villella each scored two goals and Allie Sauers one to lead Roy-Hart past Medina at Vets Park as Ashley Bower earned the shut out in the nets.

Roy-Hart, which led 3-0 at the half, improves to 3-4 while Medina slips to 2-5.

Trailing 2-0 at the half, Wilson rallied to earn the tie with Newfane on goals by Angela Goodman and Bekah Blasius.

Savannah Jonathan scored both first half goals for Newfane.
