Purple Eagles have new soccer coach
With new Coach Casey Flynn at the helm, the Albion boys varsity soccer team is prepping for this coming Saturday’s Niagara-Orleans League home opener against Akron.
Flynn, a Medina High graduate who has been coaching the Albion modified team and assisting with the varsity squad the last few years, takes over the helm from Terry Wilbert who has retired.
“The seniors we have were the first group I worked with when I started coaching modified so it has really been nice to see them mature and grow as soccer players,” said Flynn.
Forward Sam Sanchez and midfielder Angel Rosario, who both earned second team N-O All-League honors last fall, head Albion’s senior group which also includes Omar Peterson (Goalie), Daniel Grabowski (Defender), Conner Hollenbeck (Forward), Cole London (Midfielder), Martin Molina-Samsel (Defender), Juan Santiago (Midfielder), Spencer Sietmann (Defender) and Vincent Tarracone (Defender).
Sanchez scored 8 goals and Roario 5 last season.
The Purple Eagles also return junior midfielder Alex Gibson.
“We have a core of great offensive players and that helps us out huge,” said Flynn. “We’ve got a good group of experienced players.”
