“We feel very fortunate to get out with a win,”Albion coach Tony Osburn said. “It was Lew-Port’s Hoemcoming and Senior Night and we came off the bus and couldn’t get anything going in the first half. Lew-Port really controlled the opening half but we tightened up in the second half and shut them out which was big.”

Lew-Port did grab a 6-0 lead in the second quarter on a 1 yard touchdown run by Carmine Zurillo.

It remained at tight 7-6 contest until there was just 1:41 to go in the fourth quarter when Manny Thompson intercepted a Lew-Port pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown.

“In a close game like that one it very often comes down to a couple of big plays and we were able to get the pick six,” Osburn said.

The Purple Eagles defense then stopped Lew-Port’s last ditch drive as Des Blackmon had an interception on the game’s final play.
