Purple Eagles earn first diamond win
Scoring in each of the first four innings, Albion downed visiting Attica 8-3 this afternoon to snap a season opening five non league game losing streak.
Trailing 2-0, Albion tied the game in the bottom of the first on a double by Elliott Trapiss and a single by Gavin Boyce.
The Purple Eagles then took the lead for good at 4-2 with a pair of runs in the second inning on an error and a groundout off the bat of Nate Gibson.
Albion made it 5-3 with a run in the third on a steal of home and then pulled away with three tallies in the fourth on a double by Gibson, a fielders choice play off the bat of Kaiden Froman and an error.
Drew Pritchard went the distance on the mound for Albion scattering 5 hits and striking out 9.
Albion next visits Newfane at 1 p.m. Saturday in a makeup game which will be the Purple Eagles Niagara-Orleans League opener.
