Purple Eagles and Mustangs will open Section VI Class B1 playoffs with home games

Albion and Medina will both open Section VI Class B1 boys basketball playoff competition at home on Wednesday.

Seeded No. 6 Albion (15-5) will host the winner of Tuesday’s opening round contest between No. 11 Maryvale (7-13) and No. 14 Dunkirk (5-15) at 7 p.m. The victor will advance to a Saturday quarterfinal rround game at No. 3 Depew (13-7).

No. 8 Medina (11-9) will host No. 9 Tonawanda (9-11) at 7 p.m. The winner will visit top seeded Bennett (15-5) in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Roy-Hart (6-14) will begin Class B2 competition on Tuesday as the No. 11 seeded Rams host No. 14 Buffalo Arts (4-15) at 7 p.m. The winner will visit No. 6 Cleveland Hill (9-10) on Wednesday.

In other B2 games on Wednesday involving Niagara-Orleans League teams, No. 8 Wilson (12-8) will host No. 9 Math Sciences (7-11) and No. 10 Akron (11-9) will visit No. 7 JFK (1-10). Newfane (14-6) is seeded No. 4 and draws a bye into the quarterfinal round.

The Wilson/Math Sciences winner will visit No. 1 Olmsted (13-7) in the quarterfinals while the Akron/JFK victor will visit No. 2 Allegany-Limestone (16-4).
