Purple Eagles and Mustangs tie in double overtime; Rams near N-O title with win

Rivals Albion and Medina played to a 1-1 double overtime tie this evening at Albion leaving both the Purple Eagles and Mustangs at 2-3-1 in Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer competition.

Both of the goals came within a span of three minutes early in the first half.

Jason Anstey scored just nine minutes into the game to give Albion a 1-0 lead but Medina answered right back three minutes later on a tying goal by Jackson Moreland.

Neither team could find the net again over the final 82 minutes (62 in regulation time and two 10 minute overtime periods).

Roy-Hart 5, Akron 1
Staying perfect at 7-0, Roy-Hart put a virtual lock on the N-O title with a 5-1 win over Akron.

Breaking away from a 1-1 tie, Roy-Hart moved on top to stay as Braden Ricker scored two lightning quick goals in the first five minutes of the second half.

Jayen Swygert and Peter Martillotta netted the Rams final two goals. Martillotta also scored Roy-Hart’s lone first half goal.

Roy-Hart now holds a two and a half game lead with just three to play over Akron and Wilson which are deadlocked for second place at 3-2-1.

N-O Golf
Akron closed out a 12-0 regular season by downing Albion 234- 249 in an N-O golf match this afternoon.

Drew Romesser took medalist honors with a 43 for Akron as Cam Wild added a 45.

Nick Andrews shot 46, Chris Sacco 47 and Caleb Fox 47 for Albion which finishes the season at 5-7.
