Purple Eagle wrestlers down Mustangs

A combination of four forfeit wins (worth a total of 24 points) and three pins keyed Albion to a 48-24 victory over rival Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match this evening at Medina.

Medina did grab a 12-0 lead at the outset on back-to-back second period pins by Donovan Alexander (195) and Chase Weese (220).

Albion though answered right back by taking four of the next five matches on two forfeits, a second period pin by Cody Wilson (285) and a come-from-behind one point decision win by Amilcar Morales (113) to rally into a 21-18 lead.

Medina did regain a 24-21 advantage on a first period pin by Colby Petrie (132) but the lead proved to be the Mustangs last.

The Purple Eagles again answered right back taking the final five matches on first period pins by Dayne Aina (145) and Chase Carlton (152) along with a one point decision win by Addison Christ (138) and two forfeits to claim the victory.

Albion is now 2-1 and Medina 0-3 in N-O competition.

In another N-O match, Akron downed Roy-Hart/Barker 50-24.

Quinn Brown, Tyler Miller and AJ Schafer all had pins for Roy-Hart/Barker.

Akron is now 3-0 and Roy-Hart/Barker 0-3.
