Purple Eagle netters down Raiders

A sweep of the three singles matches keyed Albion to a 5-1/2 victory over host Barker this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League tennis match.

In the singles matches, Matt Kovaleski defeated Nick Fazzolari 6-3, 7-6; Connor McQuillan downed Jake Meister 6-2, 6-2 and Victor Benjovsky bested Zander Israel 6-2, 6-0.

The Purple Eagles also took the first two doubles matches as Owen Foos and Emilie Barleben defeated Nick Sutch and Chris Young 6-0, 6-0 and Kastriot Bella and Freeman Lattin downed Mia Gooding and Natalie Bruning 6-0, 6-1.

Barker, which is now 0-2, took the third doubles and Jake Harris and Grace Harris downed Leonel Rosario and Angel Rosario 6-4, 7-6.

In other N-O action, Medina (2-0) blanked host Newfane (0-3) 5 1/2-0. The Akron vs. Roy-Hart match was rained out.

Mike Cardone, Nick Bogan and Kyla Leno all scored straight set victories in the singles matches for Medina.

The Mustangs also got straight set wins from the doubles teams of Ray Paull-Toby Kiebala, Able Zavitz-Andrew Fuller and Brandon Harris–Aedden Cayea.
