Snapping a season opening three league game losing streak, Albion blanked visiting Newfane 3-0 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans boys soccer contest.

Albion jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes as Marcos Sanchez scored at 36:48 off an assist from Jacoby Miller and then Miller tallied at 29:41 from Cam Usselman.

The Purple Eagles later added an insurance goal on a direct kick tally by Sanchez with 32 minutes to go in the second half.

Albion goalie Morgan Seielstad came up with several big saves to register the shutout as Kyler McQuillan, Sanchez, Jacob Squicciarini and Nick Reed helped to anchor the defense.

“It was a big win for us,” said Albion Coach Keith Akers. The kids have been working hard and this is good for their confidence. Hopefully we can keep the momentum.”

The loss drops Newfane to 2-2 in N-O action.
