ALBION – Orleans County Sheriff Chris Bourke announced a Child Car Seat Check Point Event will be held Sept. 24 on National Seat Check Saturday. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orleans County Public Safety Building, 13925 Route 31 in Albion.

According to data, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ranging from ages 1 to 13, Bourke said. Preventative measures, such as proper installation of car seats, boosters and seat belts can lower many deaths and injuries, he said.

“Informing and instructing parents and caregivers on child safety and proper installation of car seats is critical to saving young lives,” Bourke said. “Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will inspect your car/booster seats to assure that your child is in the correct seat for their size and age.”
