Photo by Cheryl Wertman – This was one morning when students did not mind coming to school on a holiday as practices got underway at several Niagara-Orleans League schools for the upcoming swim season. It marks the first team activity for N-O student-athletes since early November when the fall season ended. Here members of the defending champion Roy-Hart boys teams put in some warm up laps. Roy-Hart is also the defending N-O girls champion. The league is scheduled to begin what will be a season of “virtual” swim meets on January 28 when the match ups will have Roy-Hart vs. Newfane, Barker vs. Albion and Medina vs. Akron. The “virtual” meet will have each team swimming in its own pool with a computer program to be used to determine the individual event winners and the overall team winner. Albion also began practice this morning while Medina is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Click here to view video from this morning.
