59 National Grid customers waiting for restoration this morning

Nearly all National Grid customers who had power outages have their electricity back following around-the-clock efforts by National Grid.

The company is reporting at 8:34 a.m. today that 59 customers in Orleans don’t have power. (Click here to see the outage map.) That is down from nearly 1,000 on Friday morning when strong gusts were knocking down tree limbs.

The company still has 51,132 customers without power in upstate as of 8:34 a.m.

“Our crews continue to work around the clock to restore power to customers impacted by the gale-force winds and devastating flooding that has impacted upstate New York customers,” National Grid posted on its website. “Service has been restored to more than 80 percent of the nearly 300,000 customers who lost power over the course of the two-day storm. We will continue to work in very challenging conditions, including ongoing flooding and washed out or impassable roads, until all customers are returned to service.”
