Power went out in Lyndonville for about 2 hours

LYNDONVILLE – The Lyndonville community lost electricity for about two hours tonight.

A dispatcher for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said there is no explanation for the outage. There wasn’t any car accidents or wires down to cause the outage. Power was first reported to out at 7:50 p.m.

Speakers at the 22nd annual For Women Only event needed to use the lights on their cell phones to read their speeches at the White Birch Golf Course after the power went out about 8 p.m. The event raises money for people battling cancer.

The power also went out during a school concert and audience members turned on their phone flashlights to help students see their music.

Lyndonville was in the dark between routes 104 and 18. By 10 p.m. only a few people were without electricity according to National Grid.
