2 charged in Medina for allegedly selling cocaine

MEDINA – Two people in Medina have been charged after an investigation in the sale and distribution of cocaine in Medina, the Orleans County major Felony Crime Task Force is reporting.

Jayleen Negron, 31, and Quincy Byrd, 30, both have been charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (B felony) and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (C felony).

A search warrant was executed at Negron’s residence at 228 Eagle St., apartment B, and law enforcement seized a quantity of cocaine, packaging, scales and other drug paraphernalia. The warrant was executed by the Task Force, the Orleans County Special Response Team, Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and Medina Police Department.

Byrd, a resident of 816 Park Ave., Apartment 2, is currently on parole with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. he was arraigned in Orleans County CAP Court by Shelby Town Justice Edward Grabowski and was committed to the county jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50.000 bond. Byrd is to return to Ridgeway Town Court on March 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Negron was released on an appearance ticket pursuant to the New York State bail reform law, returnable to the Ridgeway Town Court on March 2 at 9:30 a.m.

The Task Force said further arrests and charges are pending in this case. Assisting in the investigation include Orleans County District Attorney Susan Howard, the Albion Police Department K9 Unit and the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.


2 charged, 1 wanted in self-storage burglary investigation in Clarendon

CLARENDON – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office is announcing significant developments in an ongoing investigation into a series of burglaries at Brockport-Clarendon Self-Storage, located at 4510 Hall Rd. in the Town of Clarendon.

On January 4, deputies responded to the storage facility following a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, patrol units observed numerous storage units that appeared to have been forcibly entered. As the investigation progressed, additional burglary and criminal mischief complaints were reported by multiple victims.

Erin Starkweather, 43, and Antonio Suarez, 38, were each arrested on a total of 23 charges, consisting of 13 felonies and 10 misdemeanors, including:

Felonies (13 total):

  • 9 counts of Burglary in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • 1 count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (Class D Felony)
  • 2 counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • 1 count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony)

Misdemeanors (10 total):

  • 3 counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • 6 counts of Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • 1 count of Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

Both Erin Starkweather and Antonio Suarez were processed at the Orleans County Jail and held for CAP court arraignment. They were subsequently released on their own recognizance.

Phillip L. Martinez, 22, remains wanted by the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and has an active arrest warrant for the same charges.

On January 29, the Medina Police Department charged Samuel Walker of Amherst with aggravated unlicensed operator 3rd.

On January 29, the Medina Police Department charged Kevin Carpenter of Medina with driving with ability impaired by drugs and uninspected motor vehicle.

On February 2, the Medina Police Department charged Charles Knapp of Medina with harassment 2nd (alarm or seriously annoy).

On February 3, the Medina Police Department charged Amir Barulich, Jr. of Medina with aggravated unlicensed operator 2nd, unlicensed operator, failed to stop at stop sign and no/inadequate plate lamps.

On February 7, the Medina Police Department charged Tabitha Gray of Batavia with aggravated unlicensed operator 3rd and unlicensed operator.

On February 10, the Medina Police Department charged Anthony Arico of Medina with petit larceny.
