10 charged with welfare fraud, grand larceny

ALBION – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of multiple individuals following a series of investigations conducted in conjunction with the Department of Social Services into alleged public assistance fraud.

As a result of these investigations, several subjects were charged with offenses including Welfare Fraud, Petit Larceny, Grand Larceny, Filing a False Instrument, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing.

It is alleged that the individuals collectively received $37,562.20 in public assistance benefits to which they were not entitled.

The following were charged: Jessica Andrako, Cassandra Beck, Desiree Plucknette, Cheryl Jett, Bradley Acker, Alicia Ford, Angela Walker, Briahna Milot, Tricia Belcher and Launey D’ambra.

All subjects were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in the Albion Town Court at a later date.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work closely with the Department of Social Services to investigate and prosecute fraud-related offenses.


Local 18-year-old charged with making terrorist threat against Palmyra-Macedon HS

MURRAY – A local resident has been charged with making a terrorist threat against the Palmyra-Macedon High School in Wayne County, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Douglas Adams, 18, lives at Countyline Mobile Home Park in Murray. He allegedly posted a photograph of the school with a caption showing a gun pointed at a school with a threatening message.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office was contacted at 8 p.m. on Monday by the New York State Intelligence Center about a reported threat made toward Palmyra-Macedon High School on social media, Sheriff Chris Bourke said today.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office immediately coordinated with the Palmyra Police Department, NYSIC, and the National Threat Operations Center, he said.

Orleans County deputies responded to a residence on Jay Drive in the Town of Murray. The investigation determined that there is no known credible or ongoing threat to the public or to Palmyra-Macedon High School at this time, Sheriff Bourke said.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office turned over evidence to the Palmyra Police Department which led to the arrest of Adams on April 1 by the Palmyra Police.

Adams was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (Class D Felony) and Aggravated Threat of Mass Harm (Class A Misdemeanor).

This incident was investigated by Lieutenant Adam Hazel, Deputy Jeff Cole and Investigator Brian Marsceill.

“The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that all threats of violence are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly, regardless of intent,” Bourke said. “Anyone who becomes aware of potential threats is encouraged to report them immediately to law enforcement.”


2 arrested following burglary in progress in Gaines

GAINES – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Joseph Biaselli and Nicholas Boryszewski following a burglary in progress on April 1 at approximately 1:52 p.m. at an address in the Town of Gaines.

Deputies were alerted after the homeowner observed two males inside his residence via interior security cameras and called the Sheriff’s 911 Center. Deputies and investigators responded immediately and observed both individuals exiting the residence, at which time they were taken into custody without incident.

A backpack recovered at the scene contained property taken from the residence, including jewelry, loose change, lottery tickets, and a Bluetooth speaker. The victim later identified the items as his property.

The residence showed no visible signs of forced entry. A butter knife recovered from one individual is being retained as evidence of possible use in facilitating entry.

Both individuals were charged with Burglary in the Second Degree (PL 140.25) and Petit Larceny (PL 155.25).

Biaselli was arraigned and remanded on $1,500 cash or $2,500 bond. Boryszewski was remanded pending County Court arraignment due to prior criminal history and is currently on parole for Burglary 2nd.

MEDINA – The Medina Police Department reports the arrest of an individual following an investigation into a reported incident.

On March 25, members of the Medina Police Department arrested Taylor Valovic, 30, of Medina and charged him with:

  • Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (New York State Penal Law §130.65)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (New York State Penal Law §260.10)

The charges stem from an investigation into an incident that was reported to law enforcement. Due to the nature of the case, no further details are being released at this time.

The defendant was processed and arraigned in Orleans County Centralized Arraignment Part and was released after posting bail.
