Pitching keys Tigers, Rams to diamond wins

Pitching was key in local high school baseball action this afternoon as Lyndonville blanked host Elba 7-0 in a Genesee Region League game and Roy-Hart edged past host Wilson 3-1 in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.

Rolland Balcerzak pitched a one hit shutout with 3 strikeouts for Lyndonville which improves to 12-0 in G-R action and 14-0 overall.

Kane Flynn banged out 3 hits and Zach Johnson 2 to lead the Tigers at the plate.

The Tigers scored the only two runs they needed as it turned out in the first inning on a double by Flynn and singles by Nate Dillenbeck and Johnson.

Flynn followed up with an RBI double in the second inning and Matt Hess had an RBI single in the third following a double by Oskar Heinsler.

Noah Heinsler added an RBI double in the sixth and Flynn capped off his big afternoon at the plate with a two-run single in the seventh. A single by Balcerzak and a walk set up that  opportunity.

Lyndonville next visits Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Roy-Hart 3, Wilson 1
Walker Samanka hurled a 3 hitter with 8 strikeouts for Roy-Hart which finishes the N-O season at 9-3.

The Rams scored once in the second as Samanka singled and came home on a wild pitch and twice in the seventh on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Noah Hardy. Three straight walks with two outs loaded the bases to set up the threat.

Steve Frerichs pitched the first six and two-thirds innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 9 for Wilson which winds up the N-O season at 5-7.

Newfane 5, Barker 1

Cade Littman went the distance on the mound hurling a 4 hitter leading Newfane (4-7) past Barker (0-12) 5-1.

Garrett Srock and Matt DiTullio both had 3 hits for the Panthers as Littman and Hunter Jurek had doubles.
