Perez to attend U. of Montevallo

Medina High and Niagara Community College graduate Alba Perez has signed to continue her education and basketball career at the University of Montevallo, an NCAA Division II college in Alabama.

Perez led NCCC to a school record 28 wins and a first ever appearance in the Region III Division II championship game this past season. In two seasons she led the Thunderwolves to a 53-9 record.

She averaged 13.3 points and 12.2 rebounds per game this past season and her 389 rebounds was fifth best in the nation in Division II.

Perez earned first team Region III Division II All-Star honors and was named NCCC’s Female Athleter of the Year.

She graduated from NCCC with an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with Alba these past few years,” said NCCC Coach Nate Beutel. “Her work ethic and tenacity is second to none. She is a special young lady and I look forward to seeing her have continued success at Montevallo.”
