Conservatives not endorsing candidate in special election, but urge Republicans to support Parlato in primary

Beth Parlato

ALDEN – The Erie County Conservative Party has endorsed Beth Parlato for the June 23 Republican primary for New York’s 27th congressional district.

“We’re seeing tremendous grassroots support across the district, and it is an honor to have the endorsement of the Erie County Conservative Party,” said Parlato, a former Darien town justice. “I am not a conservative by convenience just because I am running for political office. I’ve been a conservative all my life. It’s part of who I am.”

Parlato was one of five Republicans considered by eight Republican Party county leaders in an upcoming special election to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Chris Collins. The eight county chairmen picked State Sen. Chris Jacobs as the Republican candidate in the special election, likely to be held April 28.

The Conservative Party isn’t officially endorsing a candidate in the special election. However, the party is looking ahead to the November general election and is urging Republicans to support her Parlato in the June 23 primary.

“Beth Parlato is not a political insider,” said Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo. “I’ve seen her ability to approach people, look them in the eye, and convince them. I think she’s an excellent candidate. It will be a great thing to have a woman’s perspective in this particular seat, and she has all of the other excellent qualities along with that. ”
