Panthers, Raiders score N-O X-C sweeps

Newfane’s boys and girls cross-country teams both scored key victories today in a home tri-meet to finish the regular Niagara-Orleans League season at 6-0.

In the boys meet, Newfane defeated Wilson 18-45 and Akron 18-43. Wilson bested Akron 24-32. Wilson finishes the regular season at 5-1 and Akron at 3-3. Robert Stevenson finished first and Austin Burkard second to lead the Panthers.

In the girls meet, Newfane defeated Akron 17-41 and Wilson 15-50. Akron also downed Wilson 15-44. Akron finishes at 5-1 and Wilson 0-6. Newfane’s Kim Goerss won the race as her teammates Vanessa Burkard and Lydia Chunco placed second and third.

In the other tri-meet Barker’s boys and girls teams both scored a sweep to finish the regular season at 4-2.

In the boys meet, Barker defeated Medina 15-48 and Roy-Hart 25-33. Roy-Hart downed Medina 17-41.  Roy-Hart finishes at 2-4 and Medina 1-5. Barker’s Peter DiLorenzo won the race with the Roy-Hart duo of  Ozzy Moore and Will Rickard second and third. Barker’s duo of Nick Gurvara and Dominic Clementi rounded out the top five..

In the girls meet, Barker defeated Medina 15-46 and Roy-Hart 22-35. Roy-Hart also bested Medina 22-35. Roy-Hart finishes at 2-4 and Medina 1-5.  Roy-Hart’s Anna Rickard won the race followed by the Barker trio of Lydia Samson, Haleigh Mason and Gabby Baker.
