All of the scoring came in the second half as No. 3 Newfane shutout visiting No. 6 Medina/Lyndonville 3-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B1 boys soccer playoffs.

Newfane broke away from a 0-0 deadlock when Ryan LaRuffa scored just eight minutes into the second half off an assist from Chad Gilson.

With the contest still tight at 1-0, the Newfane defense then came up huge a few minutes later to turn back the Mustangs biggest scoring threat as defender Matt Vogt came back to make a clutch clear at the edge of the goal mouth after Panthers goalie Jeremy Ribbeck had made the initial save.
