Pairings set for Field Hockey sectionals
The pairings have been announced for the Section VI Class C field hockey playoffs which begin on Monday.
Akron and Barker, which shared the Niagara-Orleans League championship at 11-1, are seeded No. 1 and No. 2 respectively as the result of a coin flip. Likewise Medina and Wilson, which finished with identical 5-7 N-O records, are seeded No. 5 and No. 6 respectively as the result of a coin flip.
Monday’s quarterfinal match ups will have No. 5 Medina at No. 4 Holland (7-8-1) and No. 6 Wilson at No. 3 Roy-Hart (8-4) both at 3 p.m. No. 7 Eden (5-10-1) will face No. 2 Barker at 6:30 p.m. at Medina’s Vets Park.
The semifinals will be on Wednesday with the Medina/Holland winner facing top seeded Akron and the Wilson/Roy-Hart winner taking on the Eden/Barker winner.
Barker is the defending Class C champion as the Lady Raiders nipped Akron 1-0 in a shootout in last year’s title contest.
