Ostrom leads Holley cagers past Elba
Led by the huge 43 point scoring effort by Broek Ostrom, Holley posted a 74-66 victory over host Elba this evening in a Genesee Region League game.
The Hawks single game scoring record is held by Tim Persia who scored 50 in 1964 which is fourth highest in Section V history.
Breaking away from a 48-48 deadlock after three quarters, Holley outscored Elba 26-18 in the decisive final stanza to claim the victory.
Ostrom tallied 13 in the final period which also included clutch late free throws by both Mason Neale and Charlie Turpyn which helped seal the victory.
Neale had a total of 13 on the evening and Erik Lang chipped in with 10.
Zach Marscell scored 23 and Caleb Scouten 12 for Elba.
Holley, which brought a 1-8 record into the contest, held narrow leads of 20-15 after one period and 38-36 at the half. Ostrom scored 15 in the opening period and 9 in the second.
“That was definitely the highlight of the season,” said Hawks Coach Wil Prince of the victory.
Alexander 73, Kendall 45
Building up a 41-19 half-time advantage, Alexander went on to down Kendall 73-45 in another G-R contest.
Nicholas Kramer led Alexander with 16.
