Orleans County is still facing drought conditions, according to the United State Drought Monitor.

Orleans, most of Niagara and a portion of western Monroe counties are all in “moderate drought,” according to a map published today by the Drought Monitor.

Some recent rainfall hasn’t been enough to change the status for the area, which has been in drought conditions for more than a month. Before that it was officially “abnormally dry.”

In New York State, 20 percent of the state is currently in moderate drought, with another 18 percent considered abnormally dry.
