Orleans/Niagara BOCES students donate for 9th annual PB&J drive

MEDINA – Students and staff at the Orleans Career and Technical Education recently had their 9th Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive.

The drive helps local food pantries fill their shelves with kid-friendly food like peanut butter, jelly and marshmallow fluff. It has become a tradition for the Orleans/Niagara BOCES center when math teacher Sarah Ivory asked the students at the center if they would like to help out. Since then it has become a fall community project.
A friendly class competition between the classes ended up with the Welding class taught by Eric Farrell victorious by collecting over $400 to buy peanut butter, jelly and fluff to contribute to the local food pantries.
School counselor, Kara Kirk, says, “Every year I am amazed at the generosity of these teenagers here at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center. I am very proud of all of them.”
