BARRE – Brian Marsceill, an Orleans County deputy sheriff, was out on patrol on Drake Island Road in Barre around noon today when he spotted this owl near a wooded area.

Marsceill could tell something was wrong with the owl. The owl had an injured wing. Marsceill approached it, and was able to hold it, without the owl putting up any resistance.

He turned the owl over to local state conservation officer Vern Fonda, who is taking it to a wildlife rehabilitator.
