A winter storm warning is in effect for Orleans County through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The mixed precipitation through the early overnight hours will change to heavy snow, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

There could be total snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches and ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch.

“Travel could be very difficult,” the Weather Service said. “Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility later tonight and Friday. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes on Friday.”
