Orchard Park sweeps Lyndonville

Moving into a share of first place, Orchard Park swept to a doubleheader victory over host Lyndonville by scores of 5-3 and 14-11 this evening in Lockport Midget ‘A’ League action.

Orchard Park improves to 4-2 with the sweep to move into a tie for the league lead with Somerset while Lyndonville slips to 4-4.

Lyndonville jumped out to a quick 2-0 first inning lead in the opener on a two-run single by AJ Buckland which followed singles by Jacob Hoffee and Mike Wells.

However, Lyndonville managed just one more run on a single by Hoffee in the fourth inning.

Likewise in game two Lyndonville roared out to an early 9-2 lead.

Lyndonville scored 4 times in the first on a triple by Zach Johnson, a two-run single by Cody Bentley and an RBI single by Matt Riemer as doubles by Buckland and Evan Pappalardo aided the uprising. Buckland then hit a three-run homer and Wells a two-run double to ke a five-run second inning.

Orchard Park though answered with 6 error aided runs in the third inning to get right back in the game.

Orchard Park then rallied into the lead for good by scoring three times in both the fourth and fifth frames.

Lyndonville rallied for 2 runs in the fifth frame on a double by Wells and single by Hoffee but could get no closer than 14-11.

Lyndonville next hosts Barker in a doubleheader on July 19.
