MIDDLEPORT – Tonight was the kick off of the high school football season, although only one local team was in action.

In the top photo, Barker/Roy-Hart team members line up for the National Anthem before their game against Lewiston-Porter in Middleport.

The game was halted with 1:48 left in the first half due to lightning. This picture shows the “calm before the storm.” The moon shows above the flag and the scoreboard. Lew-Port was leading 28-14 before the game was stopped.

It will be a busy Saturday afternoon for the high school football teams. Medina will visit Newfane at 1 p.m. and Albion will take on Burgard at Buffalo’s All-High Stadium at 3 p.m. in B-North Division games. Holley will host Attica at 1:30 p.m. in a Genesee Region League contest.
