OC Rivals roll in B1 Division opener

Albion/Medina opened its B1 Division schedule on a high note this evening as the OC Rivals downed Lake Shore 42-19 at Vets Park.

The OC Rivals attack included three touchdown passes by quarterback Preston Woodworth on completions to Elijah Doxey, Noah Harrison and Hadrian Batista along with two rushing touchdowns by Doxey and one by Woodworth.

Albion/Medina wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as Doxey took a short swing pass from Woodworth and raced 58 yards up the sideline for a touchdown on the Rivals first play from scrimmage.

The Rivals upped the lead to 18-13 at the end of the opening quarter which also saw Doxey run 29 yards for touchdown and Woodworth hook up with Harrison for a 48 yard TD pass completion. Harrison had a 20 yard run and Jayzon Wills a 13 yard pickup to help set up Doxey’s TD run.

Lake Shore’s two touchdowns in the quarter came on a pair of kickoff returns covering 75 and 70 yards.

Albion/Medina enjoyed a 34-13 half-time advantage after second quarter touchdown runs of 9 yards by Doxey and 1 yard by Woodworth. A big 27 yard pass completion from Woodworth to Doxey helped set up Woodworth’s short TD run.

The Rivals lone second half touchdown came on a 20 yard Woodworth to Batista scoring pass early in the final quarter.

Now at 2-0 overall, Albion /Medina next visits Williamsville South next Friday evening at 7. South upped its B1 record to 2-0 with a 69-13 win over Lew-Port on Thursday evening.

Lake Shore is now 0-2 in the division.
