Winifred Miller

Winifred E. (Miles) Miller, 99, of Queensbury, N.Y. and formerly of Carlton, passed away peacefully at The Haynes House of Hope in Granville, N.Y. on April 29, 2019. She was born May 19, 1919 in Carlton to the late Henry and Alice (Platten) Miles.

Winifred had been a member of Carlton United Methodist Church since the age of 16, and she was a musician at the church as well. She was a member of Lyndonville Busy Buddies and DAR, and she was a retired New York State teacher. Winifred taught kindergarten in Lyndonville for more than 27 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, quilting, playing the piano, and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 1986; brothers, Norman and Ward Miles; and sisters, Mabel Rhodes and Mary Johnson.

Winifred is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Don) Siano of Fort Ann, N.Y., and Patricia (Kenneth) Smith of Albion; grandchildren, Christine, Jason C., Amanda and Jason M.; step-grandchildren, Yvonne and Michael; great-grandchildren, Braedon, Colby, Sophia, Cash, Grace and Jack; as well as several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Fri., May 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411, where her funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. Interment will take place in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
