William J. Sanford

William J. “Billy” “Buddy” Sanford, 77, of Albion, passed away Dec. 4, 2018 at Medina Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1941 in the Town of Gaines, a son of the late Sumner and Thelma (Payne) Sanford.

Billy was an active member of the Albion community. He was always helping someone, whether it was shoveling snow, running errands, or taking care of his neighbors’ animals. Billy “wore many hats.” He was even honored by the community with Billy Sanford Day. Buddy loved music, movies, riding his TriRod, fishing, traveling and gambling. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving family.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Florence Pace, Donald Sanford, Dorothy Frank, Helen Maynard and Robert Sanford.

Billy is survived by his sisters, Delores Hackenberg of Medina and Betty Christopher of Albion; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sat., Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, where his funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
