Wesley R. Bradley

LYNDONVILLE – Wesley R. Bradley entered into peace on September 27, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Watertown, NY, on April 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Raymond F. Bradley and Kathryn (Woods) Bradley. “Skip” attended Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton, NY. He went on to study and complete his degrees in education at SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Brockport, followed by a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration.

He began his teaching career at Merton Williams Middle School in Hilton, then taught middle school science at Lyndonville Central School from 1975 until 2004, where he positively impacted the lives of hundreds of students through his humor, kindness, and life stories.

A lifelong soccer enthusiast, he played three seasons with the SUNY Potsdam Bears, serving as goalkeeper and was named captain in his senior year. In 1996, he was inducted into the Potsdam Athletics Hall of Fame. Many will remember him as the founder and longtime coach of the Lyndonville Soccer program, which began in 1975 and created a rich sporting legacy for the entire town to enjoy. Memorable achievements include winning the boys varsity Class D Sectional Championship in 1986, being named Regional Coach of the Year on three occasions, and coming out of retirement to coach the 2024 season, during which he recorded his 200th career win. Over his career, he coached a myriad of sports teams, including girls softball and track, instilling the values of sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication in all of his athletes.

As a lover of sports and a lifelong New York Rangers fan, he shared that passion with all who knew him. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of watching the Rangers play in every NHL arena and was recognized for his dedication by the Rangers organization with a “Blueshirts Off Our Backs” presentation at Madison Square Garden in 2011. He passionately followed the athletic and musical pursuits of his children and grandchildren, attending as many races, concerts, and shows as he could. He even made several appearances in local musical productions to showcase his famed vocal talents.

Wes dedicated his life to his family, friends, and community. His tradition of serving others began in college when he helped found the service-minded fraternity, Order of Prometheus, in 1968 at SUNY Potsdam. He was an active member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee and financial treasurer. He was a member of the Lyndonville Fire Department for 46 years and had the honor of serving as chaplain. He previously served with the Lyndonville Lions Club, where one of his passions was organizing the annual Fourth of July fireworks display for the community to enjoy. He was a friend to many, a frequent visitor to those in need of a listening ear, and certainly never ran short of things to share in conversation.

Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Laurie; his children, Adrienne (Bob) Cohan, Jennifer (Thanin “Boy”) Bradley-Khamsuk, and Scott (Kristie) Bradley; and his grandchildren, Maisie and Meredith Cohan, Norah Khamsuk, and Bennett Bradley. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Harold “Hal” Snyder; his sister, Phyllis (Gordon) Shimmel; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his twin sisters, Kathy Jean and Cathy Joan.

Friends and community members may call on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Main St. Lyndonville, NY 14098, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wes’s name to the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, the Lyndonville Fire Company, P.O.Box 150, Lyndonville, NY 14098, or the Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund, P.O.Box 684, Medina, NY 14103.
