Walter Schutt

Walter J. Schutt Jr., 89, of Chandler, Ariz. and formerly of Albion, died on Aug. 29, 2019.

After high school, Walter joined and served with the United States Air Force. His career path led him to law enforcement, working for the Erie County Sheriff’s Department and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, and as Chief of Police for the Village of Albion. He was a Mason, and he belonged to the VFW and the American Legion. After retirement, he moved to Sun City, Ariz., where he was an avid gun collector who spent many days with his buddies at the gun range. He loved to read and debate politics, and he had a love for animals. Those who knew him will forever remember his deep voice and his big bear paw sized hands. He loved to give advice and was always willing to share his life’s experiences.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald Schutt; sister, Marion Lenz; wife, Elsie; and a very special and loving partner, Marguerite Moore.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Philip) Gang and Kathie (Phil) Zirretta; his sons, Walter “Jay” (Maria) Schutt and Allen (Kimberly) Schutt; his sister, Janice Braman; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a lot of special people (too many to name) who he loved very much.

There are no calling hours, and private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
