Thomas R. Pettit, 72, lifelong Millville area farmer and snowmobile enthusiast, entered into rest peacefully on Wed., Feb. 20, 2019 in the comfort of the Martin-Linsin Residence in Albion.

Born Jan. 13, 1947 in Medina, Tom was a son of the late John C. and Helen (Ross) Pettit. He was raised on the family farm, a legacy he would continue his entire life. Tom graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1964 and went on to attend college at the University of Buffalo. While at U.B., he played linebacker for the U.B. Bulls football team. He also played semi-pro football with the Lockport Travelers. Tom was the owner and operator of Pettit Farms in Millville. He was a member of the New York State Farm Bureau in Orleans County, the Junior-Wilson Sportsmen’s Club in Medina, and the Sacred Heart Club in Medina. Tom was extensively involved in snowmobiling over the years. He was a member of Orleans County Snowdrifters and Genesee Sno Packers and was integral in the early promotion of local snowmobile trails.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Jordan) Pettit; son, Patrick Pettit; daughter, Jennifer Tuxford; granddaughter, Allison Tuxford; sister, Onalie A. Pettit; brother, Charles J. (Hollie) Pettit; and his faithful canine companion, Sissy.

Calling hours will be held on Sat., Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. The family wishes to invite everyone to join them following the service for a luncheon at the Sacred Heart Club, 189 N. Gravel Road, Medina.
