Thomas E. Nogle
GRAND ISLAND – Thomas E. Nogle, of Grand Island, passed away with his loving family at his side on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Medina Memorial Hospital- North Wing Skilled Nursing Facility. Born October 31, 1941 in N. Tonawanda, he was a son of the late James A. and Mildred E. (Waterman) Nogle. Mr. Nogle graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1959. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1962. Stationed in Jacksonville, FL, he served aboard the USS Enterprise. On September 19, 1964 he married the former Carol Erb. Mr. Nogle worked for General Motors at the Tonawanda Forge as a tool and die maker for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a charter member of the Grand Island Moose Lodge #180, where he served as treasurer for many years. Mr. Nogle was also a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, through which he took his family on many adventurous vacations. He was also an avid auto racing fan, both locally and NASCAR. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nogle was predeceased by an infant son, David in 1969; his wife, Carol Nogle in 2017; and a brother, James Nogle in 1991.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cherie (Ron) Stork of Medina; son, James (Kathy) Nogle of Lockport; three grandsons, Tyler, Connor and Kai Nogle; three brothers, C. Daniel Nogle (Jeanne Crane), Richard (Cindy) Nogle and John (Linda) Nogle; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 12:00PM at the Grand Island Moose Lodge #180, 2524 Grand Island Blvd., Grand Island, NY 14072. Private interment with military honors will be held in Elmlawn Memorial Park, Kenmore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grand Island Moose Lodge at the address above. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the North Wing SNF in Medina for their compassionate care given to Tom and his family throughout his final months.
