After a brief illness, Sybil Y. Reisch, 86, of Hamlin/Brockport/Greece died peacefully March 9, 2021 with family by her side. Born Dec. 13, 1934, she grew up in Middleburgh, NY, the daughter of John and Edith (Van Aller) Youmans and lived in the Rochester area for many years.

Sybil was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son, Jeff; brother John Youmans; sister- and brother-in-law: Lois and Dutch Weber; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Reisch.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Jim Chapman) Reisch of Rochester; sister-in-law, Gloria Youmans; brother-in-law, John Reisch; grandchildren: Theo and Roxy; and several nieces and nephews.

Sybil was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall and more recently of Messiah Lutheran Church in Greece. She was always very active in many church activities, and was especially active in Women of the ELCA. Her warm nature made Sybil a good friend and confidante. She loved spending time with friends and family, reading, writing, singing, and talking about her grandchildren.

Having a child with Down syndrome, she was a champion for the rights of people with disabilities. She became a special education teacher and volunteered at Lifetime Assistance and the Special Olympics. She wrote a book of devotions, Journey with Jeff, to help provide inspiration for caregivers of people with special needs.

A memorial service is planned for July 17, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church-Rochester. Interment will be held in South End Burying Ground in Plantsville, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lifetime Assistance Inc. of Rochester, 425 Paul Rd., Rochester, NY 14624; Messiah Lutheran Church, 4301 Mount Read Blvd., Rochester, NY 14616; Concordia Lutheran Church, 1769 Kendall Rd., Kendall, NY 14476.
