Susanne A. Whittier

ALBION – Susanne A. Whittier, 74, died February 26, 2022 in United Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born February 9, 1948 in Brockport, a daughter of Ernest and Alice (Oldenburg) Ruef and was a life-long resident of this area.

Susanne enjoyed gardening, bowling, going to the casino as well as her dinner with the “Friday Night Gang” and her breakfast gatherings. She also enjoyed her lifelong friends known as the “Old Milwaukee Sisters.” Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Ms. Whittier was predeceased by a son, Scott Whittier, and sister, Aline Smith.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 27 years, Clayton Fletcher; her son, Kevin (Sarah Bechdel) Whittier of Albion; her daughter, Rene Whittier of Albion; step children, Mike (Tammy) Fletcher of Middleport, Chad Fletcher of CO, and Steve (Steph) Fletcher of Lyndonville; her brother, Fred (Pat) Ruef of Rochester; her sisters, Patricia Mott of Memphis, NY, and Laurene Canale of Albion; 11 grandchildren, Taylor (Mel), Shawn, Travis, Jenna, Bradyn, Sawyer, Hannah, Caleb, Reyli, Ella and Jaxson; and her great-granddaughter, Rayleigh, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue-Albion, on Saturday, March 5, from noon to 4 p.m. only.
