MIDDLEPORT – Stephen A. Smith, 69, of Middleport passed away at home June 4, 2022 after a short illness. He was born January 19, 1953 to William and Margaret (Quinn) Smith.

Steve worked at Fisher Price for 24 years and retired from the Village of Middleport Department of Public Works in 2015. He was a member of the Middleport Volunteer Fire Department for the past 45 years and was a Past Chief.

Steve enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with his family, especially his boys.

Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn (Schaal) Smith; son, Stephen (Trisha) Smith; daughter, Audra (John Garbutt) Smith; grandson, Chad (Amanda) Smith and great-grand babies, Mason, Maverick and Milo Smith; honorary children, David and Deborah Manna and family; siblings, Margaret Acara, Francis (Judy) Smith, Dennis (Shirley) Smith, William (Kathie) Smith, Teresa (Michael) Carpp and Ann Groell; in-laws, Alda Smith, Peggy Smith, Sharon Smith, James Lowe, David (Nancy) Schaal, Renee Jahnke, Stephen (Candy) Schaal, Marc (Jackie) Schaal, Kris (Walter) Leonard, and Kelly (Mary) Schaal; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (Quinn) Smith, Kenneth and Ada Schaal; his siblings, Mary Ellen DePasquale, Charles Smith, Bredget Smith, Leo Smith, Patrick Smith, Elizabeth Lowe, Kenneth and Angie Schaal and James Jahnke.

Steve requested to have no public services. His family will celebrate his life privately. Steve’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home of Middleport.
