Shirley Marie Hicks

Shirley M. Hicks, also known as “GG,” 86, of Medina, passed away Aug. 6, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born Feb. 7, 1934 in Brockport, a daughter of the late Harris and Helen (Johnson) Rich.

Shirley was a former employee of GM and a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed meeting every day at the Country Club Restaurant in Medina to socialize with her friends. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and playing cards, especially euchre, hearts and Skip-Bo.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Hicks; son, Robert K. Hicks; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Russ Doud; son-in-law, Fred Pettyjohn; brothers, George and Jim Rich; and a sister, Marlene Rook.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Debra) Hicks and Richard (Suzie) Hicks; daughters, Donna (Jimmy) Tarte and Nancy Pettyjohn; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Carol) Rich and Terry (Maryellen) Rich; sisters-in-law, Rosa Rich and June Doud; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Thu., Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., followed by burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery at 2 p.m.
