Shelva FurnessShelva J. Furness, 82, of Waterport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thu., June 18, 2020 after a long illness. Shelva was born Jan. 26, 1938 in Ohio, a daughter of Austin and Rachel Coy.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harold Furness Jr.; and her siblings, Glenn Grubb, Harvey Grubb, Clifford Park, Freda LaRoche, Jean Mayer, Beverly Gould, William Grubb and Loretta Morrow.

She was raised on a farm and enjoyed riding horses. Shelva adored Elvis Presley, enjoyed watching wildlife from her porch, and loved her dogs, especially her beloved “Beebee.” Shelva will be remembered as the most kindhearted, understanding and graceful soul to her family and friends. She was a loving wife, an amazing mother, and the sweetest grandmother to all her grandchildren. She was devoted to her family, friends and faith.

She is survived by her son, Joseph (Kelly) Furness; daughter, Patty Ryan; grandsons, Jessie Walls, Randy Ryan, Jason Conn and Brody Furness; granddaughters, Shelley (Steve) Sherman and Jaden Conn; great-granddaughter, Lily Sherman; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gould, Sybil (Jim) Herring, Eleanor Furness, Janet Reis, Barbara (Bill) Schuler, Anita Furness, Judy Furness and Mary Furness; brother-in-law, Leroy Furness; several nieces and nephews, family and friends; and her best friends, Phyllis Conn and Carole Patterson.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Mon., June 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. (mask required). A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tue., June 23, followed by burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery at 12 p.m. (enter at West Gate).
