Santa Calles

Santa (Sidari) Calles, 92, of East State Street, Albion, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Feb. 23, 2019. She was born on Aug. 23, 1926 in Albion to the late Fortunato and Gladys (Spada) Sidari. Santa was a lifelong resident of Albion and a member of Holy Family Parish – St Joseph’s Church.

Santa attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Albion. She married Henry Calles (New Bedford, Mass.) on Feb. 23, 1952, and they raised three daughters. Santa was a dedicated housewife and mother. She was known and loved for her sewing, which she provided continuously for family and friends.

Santa was predeceased by her husband, Henry; daughter, Nadean; brothers, Rocco, Frank and Leonard Sidari; and sisters, Jane Ciccoline, Eleanor Irwin and Louise Felso.

She is survived by her daughters, Joette (Jerry) Dapore and Michele (Rich) Garrett; grandchildren, Ashley Dapore and Matthew Dapore; sister-in-law, Jane Sidari; brother-in-law, Alex Felso; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Fri., March 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) in Albion on Sat., March 2 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
