Ronald KennedyAmerican flagRonald B. Kennedy, 78, of Hamlin, died July 18, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 10, 1940 in Gouverneur, N.Y. to Michael and Dorothy Kennedy, and he lived in this area for more than 50 years.

Ron was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Fancher, Hulberton and Murray Fire Department. He was also a member of the Orleans County Boots and Saddle Club. He enjoyed fishing, Western movies, horses and NASCAR. Ron had previously raised Siberian Husky dogs, but his true love was being an over-the-road trucker.

Mr. Kennedy was predeceased by a son, Bradley Dean Kennedy.

He is survived by his children, Ed (Lisa) Kennedy of Kent, Colleen Davidson of Hamlin, Ron (Alyssa) Kennedy of Holley, and Jerry (Missy) Kennedy of Kent; brothers, Jon (Sue) Kennedy and Jerry Histman, both of Gouverneur; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Bonnie Gekoski of Kendall.

The family will receive friends on Thu., July 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, where his funeral service will be held Fri., July 26 at 11 a.m.

Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
