American flagRobert George “Bob” Dexter, 73, of Albion, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sept. 15, 2020. He was born April 3, 1947 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late George and Irene (Gertzen) Dexter.

Bob was known by many in the community as a social butterfly who was always willing to volunteer wherever he could. He really loved his sweets, never complained about anything, and was always willing to give advice, when he could oftentimes be heard saying, “bottom line is.” Bob served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1969, served as a Scoutmaster for many years, and was proud of his green belt in Isshin-Ryu karate. Bob was very proud of receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Clarendon Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons-in-law, Wayne Pocza and James Kipler.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Pamela; children, Lisamarie Pocza, Bobby (Kimberly) Dexter, Amber (Chris Miller) Kipler, Meghan Cox and Stephanie Cox; grandchildren, Thomas, Rebecca (Shane), Isabella (fiancé Jordan), Rosalynn, Dalton, Clayton and Abigail; great-granddaughter, Sophia; special cousin, Buzzy Gertzen; as well as countless friends.

There are no calling hours. Bob’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Fri., Sept. 18 at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Church, W. Park Street, Albion, at 11:30 a.m. Face masks will be required at the church, and please use the east ramp entrance. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
